The District hosts two hydro facilities downstream from Haystack Reservoir - one is owned and operated by Apple, Inc., and the other by Natel Energy. The facilities generate power from the flow within North Unit Irrigation District’s Main Canal. When operating at peak performance, these 2 facilities can deliver enough power to supply electricity to up to 3,500 homes. The Apple facility is capable of 3megwatt production, and the Natel facility 0.5megwatt. Although NUID does not own these prjects, we share in the revenue that they generate. After 20 years, ownership of both projects will fall to the District.
